Sometimes loss can be deeply personal, and other t Sometimes loss can be deeply personal, and other times an entire community or nation can find themselves wrapped in collective grief from a specific event, such as the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.

In this essay of photography and text from the National Museum of African American History and Culture (Smithsonian) the legacy and reverberation of this national moment of grief is explored and witnessed.

"The assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4, 1968, dashed the hopes of black Americans for the commitment of white America to racial equality. White Americans respected him more than other black leaders, but his opposition to the Vietnam War infuriated many. His continued insistence on nonviolent protests frustrated black activists. But in 1968 he still led the struggle for civil rights. “The murder of King changed the whole dynamic of the country,” recalled Black Panther Kathleen Cleaver."

The 10th annual Live Your Dash Luncheon serves as a powerful platform for us to join forces and advance our common cause of serving those who are navigating the difficult journey of grief. It is a testament to the strength of our community, as we come together to support one another and offer solace during challenging times. This event is a reflection of the profound impact we have made in the lives of countless individuals, and it serves as a reminder of the transformative power of compassion and understanding.

2023 was a big one for us at Full Circle. We had t 2023 was a big one for us at Full Circle. We had the privilege of serving numerous clients in the heart of Central Virginia: children, families, couples, adults, individual clients, support group participants, and more. Our dedicated team made a profound impact on their grief journeys, providing them with the support and guidance they needed during their healing process. 

The true impact of our work can be seen in the lives of those we have had the privilege of serving. Through our commitment to providing high-quality care, we witnessed individuals finding solace, gaining resilience, and experiencing personal growth amidst their grief. 

We are incredibly grateful to all those (all 843 of you!) who placed their trust in us and allowed us to be an integral part of their journey towards healing. 💙

Our goal through this group is to cultivate ongoing support for events and to nurture relationships with potential board members. This one-year commitment requires participation in a minimum of one event, voting for Live Your Dash award recipients & having a voice as we plan events that have an impact in our community.
